Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor lighting is important for visibility outside at nighttime.  Outdoor lighting fixtures are commonly placed beside or near doors, driveways, walkways, and porches. There are many styles, sizes, and shapes available.  It is best to choose outdoor lighting that matches and compliments the exterior of your home and your existing outdoor accessories.

Types of outdoor lighting that are mounted on the exterior of your house beside a door or porch (wall lights) include: flush mount lights, wall mount lights, wall lanterns, hanging lanterns, solar lanterns, flood lights, and solar flood lights.

Types of outdoor lighting that are positioned away from an entrance include: post lanterns, walkway lights, path lights, yard lamps, well lights, flare lights, tier lights, low profile edge lights, low profile brick lights, spotlights, solar stake lights, deck post solar lights, accent lights, swimming pool lights, and fountain lights.

Outdoor lighting is used for purposes other than visibility. Decorative outdoor lighting is used to make landscape features more noticeable such fountains and pools, while making the area safe for use at nighttime as well.  Decorative ground stake or lantern lights can create a beautiful atmosphere in a garden or patio at nighttime.  Quality outdoor lighting is very important for security as well. Having bright entrance lights provides valuable security like nothing else during the dark hours of the night.

Outdoor lights are commonly made from aluminum, stainless steel, and glass or plastic that won't shatter. These materials are used since they durable and stand up well to various weather conditions.
